OCACD Give Back A Smile Campaign

Give Back A Smile is a charitable fund set up by the AACD to help surviving victims of domestic abuse. Since it’s inception in 1999, AACD dentists have been donating portions of their revenue from patients receiving home bleaching treatment to the GBAS fund.

In conjunction with this, AACD volunteer dentists and laboratories have donated their time and fees and have restored the some 1600 smiles for survivors of domestic violence with a total value of over $16 million!

Restore a smile, Restore a life.
  1. March 2017 is the official OCACD GBAS month whereby member dentists of the OCACD (hopefully some non-member dentists as well) will donate their office bleaching revenue to GBAS. Heraeus Kulzer dental company will donate all the bleaching products to the dentists that participate, so the volunteer dentists will have to only give of their time and not have to layout money. Dentists who participate will have their patients make out their check to GBAS and not the dentist and this is tax deductible.
  2. The OCACD wishes that our member dentists would reach out to their colleagues (members and non-members) to also participate in this drive.
  3. We want to create a video; starting from the inception of the program, including interviews of volunteers. We will present this video to the AACD with the intent that they show it at the annual meeting in Vegas. At that time, we also want to present a large cardboard check displaying the total amount raised.
  4. Dentainment will establish a social media marketing campaign to drive dentists and public awareness about the OCACD charitable drive. The initial marketing of this program will start in the beginning of 2017 and will continue until the annual meeting in Vegas.
  5. For more detailed information, go to AACD.com and click on the GBAS link
  6. In the Spring of 2018 the OCACD will hold an event to further raise funds and this will include a 5K walk, food and hopefully media coverage.
  7. The AACD will provide a marketing kit for all participants along with vouchers to get reimbursed for the bleach. Examples of this are posted on OCACD.com in the GBAS link.
  8. You may also reach out to any of the OCACD board members for additional information or questions you may have.
AACD Example: Program Recipient Testimonial
This GBAS recipient was violently attacked by her ex-boyfriend. The blows to her face were so vicious that she lost her front tooth and suffered such damage to her eye that it had to be removed "It feels good when you can smile and know that the world is smiling with you. I smile all the time now, but for 10 years I couldn't. Whenever I looked in the mirror I saw a monster; today, I see a beautiful woman."
